Visceral bodywork uses gentle pressure to locate and release specific strain patterns in the belly. It balances your core, helps all the organs function smoothly and re-awakens “gut feelings.” Chi Nei Tsang is a Taoist, Qi Gong approach to unwinding the belly.
All of our organs (viscera) are surrounded by fascia, and so connect to every other part of our body through the fascial web. Visceral restrictions contribute to spinal misalignments, neck and back pain, structural, postural, breathing and digestive issues. Our gut is also connected to intuition (“gut feelings”), sleep and emotions. During trauma or stress, digestion is often the first thing to go awry.
Recent science shows that the gut contains 100 million neurotransmitters—as many as the brain. Researcher Dr. Michael Gershon refers to the gut as our “Second Brain” in his book of the same title. As he says, “Take care of your gut and your gut will take care of you.”
